Job Number:86057Level/Salary Band: 05 -N - ExemptWork Unit:College of EngineeringDepartment:Penn State Facilities Engineering InstituteFull/Part Time:Full-Time Description The Penn State Facilities Engineering Institute ( is seeking a strong and competent leader to plan, organize and supervise the institute's electricity and natural gas procurement, account management, and utility bill management system support to Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (COP) agencies and other government related institutions. Responsibilities include providing electricity, natural gas, and renewable energy procurement assistance to COP agencies, commissions, and universities, and supervising the institute's energy procurement team members (energy management consultants, data analysts, and support staff) by providing leadership, guidance, day-to-day direction, and professional mentoring to meet client expectations. The successful candidate must be a subject matter expert in related wholesale and retail energy markets, regulated utilities and cooperatives, and deregulated suppliers and brokers; possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to provide briefings, educational presentations, and write reports that are clear, concise, and actionable; and be able to interact with a variety of audiences, including agency facility managers, administrators, and government agency executives. The position is based in State College, PA; however, travel throughout PA is required (day and occasional overnight). Typically requires a Master's degree or higher in Engineering or related discipline plus eleven years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in a comparable leadership position preferred. Certified Energy Procurement Professional (CEP) is required. Candidates with a Professional Engineering (PE) license will be considered. Security clearance and/or U.S. citizenship is required. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from the date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.Salary Range: $80K - $$169KMinimum Qualification11 - 15 years
