We are seeking students to serve as PEPP Learning Assistants (PLAs) for an afterschool tutoring and mentoring program in Reading High School (grades 9-12) for the fall, 2019 semester. The PLA position is a semester long commitment. Responsibilities include providing academic assistance (tutoring, homework help) in core courses (math, science, writing, etc.), acting as a role model, promoting higher education and preparing activities for engagement each week. The PLA requires patience, good oral and written communication skills, listening skills, and creativity skills to find ways for each student to learn. Hours are Tuesday and/or Thursday from 3:00-5:00 p.m. You MUST be available at least one day per week from 3:00-5:00 p.m. to apply. Transportation to Reading School High School is your responsibility. Students able to drive and willing to carpool a plus. Carpooling with other PLAs is typically possible. To be considered for this position, you must be a full-time Penn State Berks student with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher and in good conduct standing with the University.
