The Morgan Academic Center is accepting applications for academic mentor positions throughout the 2018-19 academic year. Essentially, it is the academic mentor's job to cultivate the \"student\" in the student-athlete. Additionally, responsibilities include scheduling appointments with assigned mentees on a weekly basis, writing mentor reports, attending monthly meetings/trainings, and compliance with all policies/procedures. A Bachelor`s degree is required, along with a (3.0) GPA or above. This position also requires an ability to work with at-risk student-athletes to develop and improve upon their study strategies, including but not limited to, goal setting, time management, organization, note-taking, reading, study and test preparation, self-monitoring, self-advocacy and critical thinking/problem-solving. This position is limited to a maximum of (20) hours per week and is flexible to accommodate student schedules; however, hours are not guaranteed and may vary each week/semester, including the possibility of evenings and Sundays. Current Penn State graduate students are preferred, but qualified applicants with equivalent academic credentials and/or experience mentoring or teaching will be considered.
