The Pennsylvania State University Press, a division of the Pennsylvania State University Libraries and Scholarly Communications, located in University Park in central Pennsylvania, invites applications for the position of Financial Manager. This full-time staff position reports to the Associate Director of Administrative and Financial Services with a dotted line reporting to the Press Director. Founded in 1956, the award-winning academic press, a long-standing member of the Association of University Presses, publishes ninety to one hundred peer-reviewed books and sixty-five journals annually in the humanities and social sciences. The Financial Manager will assume responsibility and oversight for reporting on financial operations and for overseeing the Inventory Control Specialist as well as the manager of the warehouse distribution and fulfillment services. The Financial Manager will work with the director and press managers and the libraries business office to institute press policies and to provide strategic and financial reports and plans and will be the initial contact to assist in the research and resolution related to complex financial/process questions. Duties include completing a monthly financial report of income and expenses and budget cash flows. Other duties include royalty processing including calculating journal and book royalties to ensure the accuracy of payments for annual royalty statements for authors; entering the author contracts in InOrder, and performing the contract audit for compliance with royalty calculations; reporting on sales and revenue from international distribution partners; entering new products into the system; reporting on all financial transactions; and working with the leadership to produce and follow an annual operating budget of roughly $3.75M. The Financial Manager will work closely with the business manager and the financial officer of the University Libraries.
