Description

Penn State Altoona is accepting applications for an Assistant Director of the LaunchBox supported by the Hite Family (Education Strategy and Planning Manager level 1 or 2). The successful candidate will have prior experience and knowledge in Economic and Workforce Development as well as a passion for Entrepreneurship. The primary role of this position is to propel and support the Penn State Altoona LaunchBox supported by the Hite Family by increasing its visibility, developing financial support for its initiatives, and increasing participation so that the LaunchBox can aid local entrepreneurs in the development of their business concepts. This will be accomplished by building community facing business and education collaborations between the LaunchBox and local organizations to foster relationships. The position supervises a Federal work study student and a PASS student tasked with supporting the unit's mission; works closely with the Penn State Altoona's Office of Development and Office of Research and Sponsored Programs; and reports directly to the Executive Director of the Sheetz Center for Entrepreneurial Excellence. Interested candidates must possess a willingness to collaborate on both grant writing and fundraising efforts, work with an established network in the Altoona business community, the ability to network with corporate leaders, a mastery of current concepts driving innovation and technology, a broad understanding of the mission of higher education, an entrepreneurial spirit, and the ability to provide vision and structure for a new project without established parameters. A typical schedule for this position includes day, evening, and occasional weekend hours depending upon appointments and programming. This job will be filled as a level 1, or level 2, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 1. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard
